Tent of Blue
Tent of Blue reflects on the trauma and moral judgement surrounding Ireland’s Magdalene Laundries, where women were imprisoned under religious and societal condemnation. Inspired by Oscar Wilde’s The Ballad of Reading Gaol, the work navigates the tension between despair and the faint hope of reform, offering a visual testimony to the abuse endured. It serves as a call for remembrance and a warning against the dangers of unchecked institutional power.
Tent of Blue was on display at Belfast Exposed Gallery, Belfast, from 1st to 23rd May as part of the 2025 Ulster University MFA Photography Degree Show, Under A Different Light. Stay tuned for more info the Dublin exhibition.
